Following the Decree by the President of the Council of Ministers of Wednesday 4th March about the COVID 19 (Coronavirus) spread containment measures, Ski Club Corrado Gex communicates the cancellation of the 20th edition of Millet Tour du Rutor Extrême, the ski mountaineering sport competition scheduled from the 26th until the 29th of March 2020 among Arvier, Valgrisenche and La Thuile (AO) municipalities.

A very hard decision took by the organizing committee with a very heavy heart. It could seem a rushed decision but it is the only possibility the organizing committee has to be able to refund 100% of the registration fee and not burden on the athletes even though 3 weeks before the start of the event mostly of the expenses have already been paid. Men and women belonging to the Ski Club Corrado Gex have been working a lot during the last months and this cancellation has been very hard to accept. The health security is the main important issue and the restrictions indicated in the decree were unfeasible to adopt in a 4 days ski mountaineering event, with several side events and athletes coming from 18 countries.

Ski Club Corrado Gex would like to express warm thanks to all the people involved in the organization of such a wonderful race: from the registered athletes, to the commercial sponsors, to the companies participating in the Mountain Village, to the regional administration and the municipal administrations of Arvier, Valgrisenche and La Thuile and the 300 volunteers which gave their great support to the achievement of the 20th edition which is just postponed.
